Oil paint is a disaster

This weekend, I painted to of my kitchen doors. Since they were previously painted with oil paint, I primed them first, with oil based primer. This is the recommendation I have seen doing research on the internet. Well, after priming I painted with a latex paint.

When I took the painter's tape down, the tape peeled the paint right off with it. Maybe it has not had enough time to cure, but I think I will just stop trying to take the easy way out and strip the doors.

Well at least I know what I am going to be doing the rest of this week, Yah!

It snowed!

So, it started snowing today at around 7 am.  Last night schools were two hours late, this morning school was closed.  At first I thought it was ridiculous but I do want my children to be safe.  It did only snow 2 inches but, the kids were safe.

I got a call this evening at 3:00 that school is closed tomorrow, I guess it because of the ice?  So that means that this week the kids only had school one day because Monday was the holiday and Thursday and Friday are teacher work days, so that means no school.  Oh to be a kid again.

Snow

They are calling for snow where I live, 3-6 inches.  I live in Eastern, NC.  I went to the store this evening just to get something to eat before school.  The store was crowed, I am sure people were stocking up for the storm. I find this very amusing.

I am from Baltimore and even though it does not snow alot, it is funny how in places were it hardly ever snows people kind of panic.  The school is opening two hours late and the county government and courts are closed.  Some doctor's offices are closed too.  I mean, it is only 3 inches of snow.

Cooking

I know how to cook, and whenever I do cook it is good, unless you are under the age of 18.  I do not cook extravagant, gourmet meals, just everyday food.  But for some reason my children never seem to like what I cook.  They try something at my mother's house and I like it, then when I make it at home they don't.  This is very frustrating, especially in these times when I am trying to save money where I can.

Today I made 15 bean soup with turkey, pork loin with potatoes and carrots, and greens.  This is enough food to last for the week (lunch and dinner for me and dinner for my kids).  I am sure tomorrow night I will hear "there is nothing to eat in this house" from one of my children.

What is a mother to do?  I am open for suggestions.

Getting things done

Yesterday morning when I woke up I planned on working on my paper for school, instead I went in my kitchen and noticed a crack in the paint.  My house was built in 1920 and has plaster walls.  Last spring I painted my kitchen but did not really take the time to fill the cracks in properly.

So I started scraping the cracked paint, the next thing I knew I had scraped almost a quarter of the paint off.  Since there are about five layers of paint, I had to fill in the scraped area with more plaster.  So I filled it in and then I started working on cleaning my daughters' room.  The next thing I know it is 6:00 and I am still working on housework, so much for the paper.

Getting serious

I have had this blog since 2/08.  I did one post since I signed up and that was six months later.  One of my new year resolutions is to post something every day.  This blog is not really about anything specific, just a place for me to ramble about whatever.

Me and Yoga

Too late to do the whole challenge but better than never.  So here are the rules:
The "rules" are simple: practice yoga every day in January. Your practice can be as short as 10 minutes! If you accomplish this goal, you will be in the running for prizes. We are also looking into a way to add a practice dedication or charity pledge aspect to the endeavor, and will keep you posted.
